Minister Inga Bērziņa: “Latvia is ready to share its experience and technological solutions to strengthen Moldova’s digital security and innovation on its path toward the European Union. We are working in cooperation with the IT cluster and other Latvian entrepreneurs, including SIA ‘Elektroniskie sakari’ – a state-owned company responsible for managing the national radio frequency spectrum and numbering. Our experience in developing e-governance in both the public and private sectors is a valuable resource we are eager to share.”
On June 5, Minister Bērziņa will deliver a speech at the opening of the Moldova Digital Summit, calling for long-term cooperation between Latvia and Moldova in the field of ICT and reaffirming support for Moldova’s path to European Union (EU) membership.
During the working visit, the Minister will meet with Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor, and Director of the Moldovan Electronic Governance Agency Nicoleta Colomei. She will emphasize Latvia’s support for Moldova at the EU level in strengthening security and resilience and express readiness to assist in implementing digital reforms related to EU integration. The meetings will include discussions on both countries’ experiences and cooperation in shaping and implementing digital policy.
Latvian and Moldovan entrepreneurs plan to sign a memorandum of cooperation to support the implementation of significant digital infrastructure development projects in Moldova, which will also include the integration of Latvian expertise and technological solutions.
The Minister’s participation in the Moldova Digital Summit will send a political signal of Latvia’s support for Moldova’s EU integration and for involving Latvian industry in Moldova’s digital infrastructure development projects.
