From 26 to 28 May 2026, Minister of Smart Administration and Regional Development Raimonds Čudars will pay a working visit to Germany together with representatives of the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development and Latvian information and communication technology companies. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation between Latvia and Germany in the fields of digitalisation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and innovation. During the visit, the Minister will participate in the business forum “Building Europe’s Digital Future: Trust, Governance & Resilience” in Berlin and will open the Northern Germany digitalisation and IT congress “NØRD 2026” in Rostock.
In Berlin, Minister Čudars will meet with Thomas Jarzombek, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation of Germany. The meeting will focus on cooperation in strengthening the European Union’s technological sovereignty, expanding the use of digital solutions in public administration, implementing the European Digital Identity Wallet, and developing the regulatory framework for artificial intelligence.
Following the meeting, the Minister will take part in the business forum “Building Europe’s Digital Future: Trust, Governance & Resilience”. The forum will bring together representatives of the Latvian and German public and private sectors, companies and industry experts to discuss the development of Europe’s digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, data governance and the future of artificial intelligence. Addressing participants, Minister Čudars will emphasise that digital transformation is a key prerequisite for security and resilience, while also highlighting the potential for Latvian-German cooperation in the development of data centres, cloud services and artificial intelligence solutions.
The working visit will continue in Rostock, where Minister Čudars will participate in the Northern Germany digitalisation and IT congress “NØRD 2026”, with Latvia serving as this year’s official partner country. The Minister will open the congress with a speech on digital transformation, artificial intelligence and human-centred public administration, underlining the importance of digital transformation for strengthening Europe’s competitiveness, security and societal resilience.
Minister Čudars will also participate in the panel discussion “Digital Resilience and Sovereignty: Strategies for a Secure Future”, focusing on resilient digital infrastructure in Europe, European technological sovereignty, cybersecurity and the regulation of artificial intelligence.
During the visit to Rostock, the Minister is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Heiko Geue, Minister of Finance and Digitalisation of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, to discuss potential areas of cooperation between Latvia and Germany in digitalisation, including public sector modernisation and innovation.
