This project is the pilot project for the large-scale EU Digital Identity Wallet. The objective of the project is to promote the development and implementation of use cases for the new European Digital Identity ecosystem in different areas, bringing in both public and private stakeholders. The project will examine the compatibility and scalability of the solutions developed in the context of both national and cross-border implementation. The pilot project will be carried out using the payment use case.

Activities planned:

  • The pilot will issue prototype EUDI wallets in six countries supported by the responsible national agencies. In the pilot the countries in collaboration with technology vendors will explore the basic use cases for the wallet.
  • Additional relevant use cases for the banking and identity industry will be tested in the pilot and across the region.
  • The pilot will result in around 2500 wallets downloaded and estimates 13 200 wallet transactions to be completed in a pre-production environment.
  • The consortium will actively promote the opportunities of the new Wallet and help Member States build the necessary expertise and infrastructure to facilitate the provision of Wallets following the relevant obligations in the future EU regulation.

Benefits:

Access to the new generation EU-wide mobile electronic identification solution – European Digital Identity Wallet.

The pilot project will contribute to the implementation of the requirements of the revised eIDAS Regulation and to the compatibility of Wallet solutions at the EU level.
