To provide functions’ and targets’ enforcement of state and local authorities they create and maintain a variety of electronic databases or the State Information Systems (SIS).
SIS is a structured set of an information technology and a database (data/information, which is considered as a one logical unit) aggregate.There is a secured initiation, creation, compilation, collection, processing, use and a liquidation of an information required for the public function implementation.
Individual SIS not only serves as a support for functions of managers, but also is an important information resource for the public administration in general. In EU practice, such systems are referred to be as basic registers. Basic registers store and provide updated information on the basic data objects required for a government work: the Population register of natural persons, The Register of Enterprises, information system of legal persons – for merchants, the Address Register, Cadastral register of immovable properties, Vehicles and driver register etc.
SIS operation is regulated by the Law on State Information Systems.
