Interreg Baltic Sea Region project “Sustainability Reporting Tool” (SusTool) was completed at the end of 2025.
The project was implemented from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2025 and focused on cooperation between Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and Finland to support sustainable enterprises. Representatives of both the private and public sectors, industry experts, and technology associations participated in the project implementation, including VARAM and LIKTA from the Latvian side.
A new digital platform for companies
The main outcome of the project is the development of a free digital platform and ESG assessment tool — “ESG Tool”:

It is an interactive self-assessment instrument that helps both small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large companies to start the sustainability reporting process and identify their material sustainability topics.
What is ESG Tool and how it helps
The ESG Tool has been developed in line with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and provides:
- the ability to assess a company’s impact on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects
- mapping and analysis of the company’s position in accordance with ESRS
- identification of material sustainability topics to be included in the sustainability report, based on a double materiality assessment framework
- guidelines and recommendations for next steps, making the reporting process more structured and efficient
- informative materials, including explanatory articles, videos, best practice examples, and links to additional resources
Language availability and accessibility
The platform and ESG assessment tool are available in Latvian, English, Estonian, Finnish, and Lithuanian, making it suitable for companies across the Baltic Sea region.
The tool is available free of charge and can be used by any organization that wishes to take its first steps toward sustainability reporting.
